Day 9: Words of wisdom

Day 9 – Words of wisdom

be that personAbout a year ago, I saw this picture on social media and it stuck with me. Every now and then, I’ve been thinking about it and its meaning.

I know when I was younger I needed a role model and a confidant. Yes, mom was there, but working long hours to be good at single parenting was at times exhausting and she really tried (and succeeded) to keep me in line with school work and family responsibilities. But she was “mom” and only until later in life I started sharing more of personal stuff with her. I ask for advice and we share stories of the past to help with making an educated decision.

When I came to Canada I heard about the Big Brother Big Sister program and I think it is such a wonderful mentoring opportunity. At times I wish they had that back in Europe. A place to go to and engage in activities and talk about a bunch of “nothings” without being judged and ridiculed.

I think my past did make me stronger, but at times I really wish I could turn the time around and do things a little different as a child. I wish I had some of the knowledge I have now, to make some sense of it all 🙂

I also keep in mind that

  • everything happens for a reason
  • any action has a re-action (you know, karma’s a b..ch at times)
  • if you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything at all
