International Women’s Day

Today is March 8th. On this day we celebrate our grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters, cousins, best friends… basically everyone with boobies and a vagina 😉 All jokes aside, this day is one of powerful significance, in history, as it commemorates the movement for women’s rights. A movement that shows that women are strong, intelligent and capable of doing anything they put their mind to. And when they all come together, they are unstoppable!

This morning I walked out to the barn for morning chores and said “Happy Women’s Day” to everyone – because I am the exciting type and could talk to any animal as if they truly understood me 😀 it’s just them and I, so I better make it that much more interesting for all of us…and if not for them, for my own sanity hahaha

My grandmother is my true inspiration in going forward with this journey. I bet she never dreamed that I would be talking about barn chores and baby goats to her. She’s always amazed at things I tell her about how life is here, in the countryside. Some things she’s experienced herself and some she wishes they were available during her early years of farming.

My mother will always be my mother – with her little quirks and ‘rituals’ and “I don’t understand you” speeches. She’s always there to answer my calls and chat about everything during a long drive into Toronto, and she’s always there with any little advice that she might have to help me through a rough day.

Behind closed gates reside a few ladies that slowly but surely became very dear to my heart and are a very big part of my everyday life. And I am not talking about the chickens or the ducks 😉 I am talking about the goat ladies, the mothers on this little farm, the fighters for every last drop of grain, the strongest when it comes to being stubborn, and the gentlest with their own babies.

A short post ending with a short video — Valentine nursing her twins like a pro!

HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY!

On another note,

  • Well, this happened yesterday! and I think it’s such a brilliant idea
